May 15, 2005

The meeting was called to order at 2:30pm at the home of Raychel Stein.

There were no new member to introduce today and no minutes to approve from last month's meeting.

 Raychel reminded everyone that the position of Vice-Moderator and Secretary are still open and we are seeking volunteers.

It was suggested that we add to next meetings agenda a discussion on a possible increase in the dues.  We will also discuss when dues are due.

 Raychel Stein is on the ballot for the position of South West director for the ISGB.  Don’t forget to vote!

Pamphlets were distributed for the Hope Bracelet Project.  Wendy Wyman will contact someone in the Hope Bracelet organization for information on what types of beads and supplies they need.  It was suggested that we all sort through our beading supplies and bring any unwanted items to the next meeting.  There will be a big bead swap with all the leftovers going to the Hope Project.  Wendy Wyman will organize this event.

 Jerell Skerboll brought it to the attention of the group that the Beads of Courage web site only mentions the ISGB and has omitted the information on the ASGB’s contributions to their organization.  Jerell will follow up with the Beads of Courage folks.

The thank you note received by the group from Judi Binderman for the groups donation to the American Cancer Society in her fathers name was passed around.

Education Update was provided by Tracy Baginski:

The date for the Kim Fields class and demo will be October 21-23.  This workshop will have the same format as the Patti Walton workshop, Friday and Saturday will be the workshop and Sunday will be the demo day.  The cost for the workshop will be $250.00 and the cost for the demo day will be $15.00. There will be 8 spots available for the workshop.  All workshop participants will be required to bring their own supplies, tools, torch, and a snack to share.  Those attending the demo will be required to bring a dish to share with the group for lunch.  Applications for registration in the work shop will be distributed via e-mail after 5:00pm on June 12th and also at the next meeting.  All applications for the workshop will need to be mailed to Tracy and the spaces will be filled in the order of receipt.  A deposit of $100.00 will need to be included with the application form.  Tracy will notify the group of the “post mark” date.  The balance of the registration fee will be due September 1st, after September 1st the class will be opened up to the public if there are spots available.  The cost of the workshop to non ASGB members will be $350.00.  If someone is unable to attend the workshop, their deposit will be refunded only if we are able to fill the spot.  It was agreed that since Cynthia will be providing lodging and transportation for Kim while she is in town she will be guaranteed a spot for the workshop.

 Tracy would like to add to the next meeting agenda the discussion/vote on the next bead artist we would like to host in the Spring.  Also, do we want to make the position of “education coordinator” an elected official.

Glass Expression update was given by Anita Farrah

The Glass Expressions committee did a tour of the new MAC and was shown location options for sales tables for the show.  There will be room for twenty tables inside and five or six outside with the demo tables.  At the next meeting the committee will present advertising options and the cost for tables.  The date of the next Glass Expressions show is November 5th.

 Treasures update was given by Lynn Gustafson;

We have a balance of $3129.02 in our checking account.  We received $60.00 in dues last month, paid 90.00 to Judi Binderman for web hosting and $25.85 to Kathryn Guler for the raffle tickets purchased for BBII.

Bead Exchange update was given by Lynn Gustafson;

The next bead exchange will be animal prints, beads will be due at the next meeting.  Also due at the next meeting will be the quarterly stretch beads.

It was decided that with Father’s Day falling on the 3rd Sunday next month we would have the meeting June 12 at Karen Sherwood’s new home.

The meeting was adjourned at 3:30pm.
