Opening

The meeting was called to order by the moderator,
Raychel Stein at 2:22 pm.

Judi Binderman moved to approved the minutes from the
August meeting and the motion was second by Kathryn Guler.

Todd Karberg, Maria Haynie and Don Carlton all attended
as renewing members to the group.
|
Old Business
Glass Expressions-Maria Carrillo
· Ten people have signed up for tables at the Glass Expressions
event to be held at MAC on Nov. 6, 2004.
· Press Releases were sent out by Sandy Trant of MAC during the week
of Sept. 13, 2004.
· Maria Carrillo presented the group with approximately 1000 color
cards, which announced the event. Members were welcome to take stacks of cards
and distribute them to public places prior to the show. Maria reported that
approximately 200 of the cards were distributed at the Harvest Festival during
the weekend of September 11, 12th.
· Maria Carrillo reported quotes for the following
o 1’x8’ Banner, single color,
§ Kinkos = $8.00 /sq. ft
§ PS Print = $70.00
§ Sugarhouse Printing = $40-$68.00 depending on design
o Postcards

· 500 cards = $137.50
· 1000 cards = $172.50
· 1200 cards = $186.50
o Donna Monce volunteered to design the Banner. Voting on the use
of group funds to purchase the banner was tabled until the next meeting.
o The group requested that Maria seek additional quotes from Don
Merrifield for the Postcards, Banner and Glass Expressions Placard. Voting on
the use of group funds to purchase these items was tabled until the next
meeting.
· Maria Carrillo stated that a sign-up sheet will be passed out at
the October meeting for demo sign-ups and volunteers.
· There was no report from Laurie Nessel about possible sponsorship
for this event.
· There was no report from Lynn Gustafson about donations from
artists for the raffle.
Tablecloths – Cynthia Shelton-Beach
· A group vote passed for the purchase of 10 tablecloths that
measure 6’ in length and are black in color at $47.00 per tablecloth.
· Cynthia will use her personal credit card to purchase the
tablecloths and will be reimbursed via group funds for the cost of two
tablecloths. Individuals who want to purchase the other tablecloths will
reimburse Cynthia directly including the costs of shipping.
· Maria will send an email to the group to inquire about who would
like to purchase a tablecloth.
Best Bead Show II – Raychel Stein
· A group of the BBSII Committee members visited the Best Western
Hotel on Tuesday, September 14th to evaluate the facility and speak
with the Fire Inspector and hotel staff. Raychel reported a very positive
experience with both parties. The Fire Inspector provided the team with a
checklist and will be available the first morning of the first day of the show
to inspect the set-up and provide consultation. The hotel is “re-landscaping”
to accommodate all show vendors.
· Pima Welding will deliver O2 to the hotel on the day of the show
for demonstrations.
T-Shirts – Donna Monce

Donna Monce provided a sketch of
her design idea for a dragon, who is blowing fire on a bead and mandrel. The
dragon design was approved by the group.

A vote was passed to sell T-Shirts
at the BBSII in Tucson in February.

Judi Binderman requested a final
quote to be presented at the October meeting so that the group knew the final
costs for the effort.

A question was posed if we could
get a smaller run completed in order to sell T-Shirts at the Glass Expressions
Show in November.

Lynn Gustafson suggested that we
get some V-neck T-shirts. Donna will check on the price.

New Business
Using Resources-Raychel Stein

Raychel presented a sign-up sheet
to the group where they could share their contact resources with everyone else
in the group.

Email Receipts
| |
There is a need to verify the
emails of all members of the group. Some members are not getting emails.
|

email verification to confirm all email addresses.

New O2 Supplier – Laurie Nessel
| |
Laurie Nessel reported that a new
O2 supplier is opening in Phoenix. Contact John Vancini at (623) 931-2275

information.

Metals Edge Studio-Dolly Ahles
| |
Dolly Ahles reported via the
meeting agenda that Metals Edge Studios has offered the group the use of their
studio for the monthly meetings.

Beads as a Business – Michelle
Colletti
| |
Michelle Colletti requested that
the group schedule some time during each meeting to discuss Beads as a
Business. It was suggested that Don Merrifield be approached to give a short
presentation on Marketing and Advertising.

Laurie Nessel requested that the
meeting times and locations be posted on the website.

Laurie Nessel had more bracelet
books available for sale.

Jean Donaldson recommended that the
coordinators of the hospital program, which the group supports with beads, be
invited to a meeting to give a talk on their program. She is also still in
need of purple hearts and butterflies for the kids.

Sunstone Artistry Center in Tucson
is looking for artists to participate in a show for the Tucson Cancer Center
on 10/10/ 2004.

Cynthia Shelton-Beach will
coordinate a monthly Tips and Tricks demo for each meeting. Judi Binderman
reminded the group that space was available on the website to post Tips and
Tricks.

Next Meeting Announcement

The next meeting will be held on
October 17th, 2004 at the LePoppet Studios in the South Mountain
Area of Phoenix. Maria Carrillo will hostess the meeting/party and will email
Judi Binderman the directions to her house for posting on the website.
