July 18, 2004 The meeting was held at Artistry Stained Glass and was called to order at 2:43 pm by the moderator Laurie Nessel. Meeting minutes from the previous meeting in June were not approved due to the fact that a quorum of the members was not present. Committee ReportsWebsiteJudi Binderman reported that the site had 79 unique visitors in June and 45 unique visitors in July to date. There were 103 visits total for June with 17 of those visitors linking from Google. Larry Scott and the Bead Exchange were the most popular web pages. Judi also reported that the Bead Museum Photos were now up. Old BusinessBest Bead IIRachel Stein reported that the next committee meeting will be the second Sunday of August (August 8th). She will be meeting with Craig of Arrow Springs as well as other vendors while at the Gathering to solicit donations. Rachel will also be talking to Jennifer Wilson to confirm an ASGB Flame-Off during the show.Donna Monce will work with Maria Carrillo (promotions) to design a T-shirt. Proposals for the T-Shirt, Postcards and Brochure Designs will be formulated at the committee meeting and will be presented to the ASGB at the August meeting for discussion. Glass Expressions Show and SaleMaria Carrillo reported that she had submitted the event to several on-line event calendars including Bead & Button, Lapidary Journal and the ISGB Forum. Maria has also generated a database of approximately 200 contacts to receive the press release. Laurie Nessel reported that images from last year’s event are available for use in the press release. Maria will contact Sandy Trant at MAC for assistance with postage costs to ship out the press releases by the first week in August. The vendor applications will be emailed to the members of the ASGB by August 2nd. There are currently 10 tables available for $50.00 each plus each vendor will be required to donate and item for the raffle. New BusinessElectionsElections were coordinated by Laurie Nessel and the entire slate was unanimously approved by the group. New officers were instated immediately as follows: Moderator-Rachel Stein Co-Moderator- Carol Saker Treasurer-Juanita Dunn Secretary and Membership-Maria Carrillo Greeter-Cynthia Shelton Bead Exchange-Lynn Gustafson Webmaster-Judi Binderman There are still open positions available for volunteers: Education Programs Newsletter Special Events AnnouncementsCynthia Shelton Beach gave an update on her effort to find affordable, fireproof table cloths. She will bring catalogs to the next meeting. Cynthia also shared her sample packs of Kugler Rods and Uroboros 96 rods, stringers and noodles. Maria Carrillo reported that she will be opening a teaching studio in October. Next MeetingThe next meeting will be held on August 15th at the Artistry Stained Glass Studio at 2:00pm. AdjournMeeting was adjourned at 3:45pm. Show and TellLaurie Nessel had packs of silver foil for sale. Lynn Gustafson passed out the previously ordered metallic foils from Juanita Dunn. Jerrel had goldstone nuggets for sale.
