Meeting was held at Glass Artistry.
-Moderator Laurie Nessel welcomed everyone and started the meeting.
-A motion was placed to accept last months meeting minutes by Jane Praxell and
was seconded by Tracy Baginski and the minutes were accepted by the group.
-Carol Saker made a very nice "Thank you" letter for Brett Pierce and his
wonderful demo and his donations of glass and demo pieces. A card was passed
around for everyone to sign for him and will be available at the next meeting as
well for those that were not able to sign it yet.
-We had a new member join our ASGB group: Jerell Skirboll
-"GLASS EXPRESSIONS SHOW"
*Raychel Stein made a format for the post card for the "Glass Expressions" show
and Laurie Nessel printed them at the MAC. The group took assignments to get the
postcards to various locations to get the word out on the show. Laurie Nessel
will be making more and also has some at the MAC for anyone who would like to
come pick some up to hand out. The MAC is donating the printing for us and the
ASGB reimbursed Laurie for the paper that was purchased for this.
*Christine Baker fowarded the press release for the "Glass Expressions" show to
the local newspapers. Raychel Stein, Kathryn Guler, and Tracy Baginski have
volunteered to also contact more of the local publications for possible
advertising of the show.
*The "Glass Expressions" show volunteer list was passed around again and Laurie
Nessel will also be emailing the ASGB group to get more volunteers to sign up.
This is for helping at the raffle table, setting up, taking down, sitting booths
for those that need a break, etc. For every two hours of your volunteer time,
you will receive one raffle ticket. If you would be interested in volunteering
please contact Laurie Nessel at: laurienessel@hotmail.com
*Lynn Gustafson volunteered to check the prices on jewelry boxes for the raffle
items.
*Carol Saker donated some boro glass for the demonstrations at the "Glass
Expressions" show. Robin Foster will also be donating some glass. If you will be
demonstrating at the show and need a specific color please be sure to bring that
along.
- The Logo Contest is being re-held. Jane Praxell made a motion to extend the
deadline to the Christmas party/meeting and it was seconded by Jodi Lindsey.
Motion passed
*Juanita Dunn motioned and Jane Praxell seconded to have a limit of 3 entries
per member and that each entry will require a bead donation from that member to
go into a pot which will be the prize to the winning logo. Motion passed.
*It was discussed that all entries do not need to be "camera ready" for the
contest, but do need to be presentable to be voted on.
-The group discussed quorum requirements.
*Jane Praxel motioned and Raychel Stein seconded that we send an email
referendum to the group on what constitutes a quorum. This notice will also be
in the agenda. If you are not able to attend the next bead meeting please email
your vote to Jodi Lindsey at: Jodi@beadworx.com. Motion passed.
*The choices the group came up for what a quorum will be, are as follows:
a. 12 members
b. No Quorum. We will only count votes of those present and those that sent in
their vote via email. An item must be on the agenda to be voted on.
c. 20% of the members
-Laurie handed over a copy of the Jim Wuerfel workshop video to our ASGB
librarian, Kathryn Guler. Kathryn will store the groups movies/magazines/books
and bring them to each meeting. The ASGB will be reimbursing her for a storage
unit for these items. The group also discussed possibly having a rental fee or a
deposit fee for using the items from the ASGB library. Kathryn is going to work
on a sign out form. Items will be loaned out on a monthly limit and should be
returned at the following meeting.
- Tracy Baginski discussed her plans for the Bead Exchanges. She will be sending
out an email with further information and discussed having an exchange possibly
every 6-8 weeks.
